This beautiful and now very rare Giulia 1.6 Super (105.26) Biscione was produced in at the Arese Factory in Italy in 1974. One of the last of the original Giulias produced prior to the introduction of the Nuova model.
The specification it left the factory with was as follows -
Top of the range Super 1.6 (Biscione) specification in Biancospino White, over a Blue 'velvet' interior (changed to Rosso Skai (red imiation leather) interior during the recent restoration.
It was sold to it's lucky first owner, by the Alfa Romeo Dealership in Puglia, Southern Italy. We understand that the car then remained with it's first owner for more than 28 years. It then changed hands only twice more (the first being a family member) prior to my purchase from a well known and respected Italian Alfa Romeo collector (and president of the Classic Alfa Romeo Club of Italy).
The previous owner put the car through a painstaking, meticulous, but sympathetic full mechanical, body and interior restoration (over a 1 year period between 2023-2024) with a view to preserving the cars originality whilst bringing the Giulia back to as close to how it left the factory in 1974. The car was subsequently displayed alongside 3 other classic Alfas at one of the largest classic and sport car shows in Europe - Epoq'Auto Lyon, France in November 2025. In fact this is where we came across the car and later made the owner an offer to buy it (please see the below photos showing the Giulia on display (wearing it's original 14" steel wheels and factory spec suspension).
Having spent the vast majority of it's life in the warm and dry Southern Italian climate all the majority of the body panels and chassis remained original and were simply taken back to bare metal (there is absolutely no evidence of welding anywhere on the car). Much of the original factory spot welds can be seen across the length of the sills and each of the inner rear wheel arches. It was then treated to a high quality repaint in the original Biancospino. The chassis and engine bay recieved the same treatment and the whole underside was then protected with a clear Dinotrol anti-corrosion wax treatment to ensure the car remains in great shape for another 50+ years.
Much of the chrome/stainless steel trim is original and in fantastic condition without any pitting, dullness, or damage.
Similarly, the all of the glass and mirrors appear to be original to the car and in excellent condition with the correct markings.
The original engine (matching number sequence for the type and year), gearbox, and differential, were fully rebuilt by an Alfa Romeo specialist including new pistons and liners, timing chain, main bearings, rod bearings, valves, guides, and a water pump. The cooling system was also flushed at this time and fitted with a refinished radiator - the result being that the car drives, and changes gear flawlessly - just as it would have left the factory. The suspension, brakes, exhaust system were replaced (and upgraded where possible) as part of the restoration.
The floor coverings, dash-top, sound deading, and roof lining material were replaced with brand new items sourced from the well known and respected Elvezio Esposito in Italy - these are exactly the specification as to which the car left the factory (albeit with a colour change to red which we feel contrasts perfectly with the white exterior). Suffice the say, the interior is as close to perfect as you could find with the only minor flaw being a small repaired tear around an inch long on the passenger side interior door panel
When we purchased the vehicle it was exactly the specification which it left the factory in 1974. However, since being in our possession we have carried out, what we class as, some choice Alfaholics upgrades to improve drivability/reliability.
These include the following -
Alfaholics Fast Road (Type B Rear/Type C Front) suspension upgrade kit (uprated and slightly lowered springs, Bilstein Sport dampers, uprated front anti-roll bar, drop links, all new poly bushes throughout
New rear axel T-bar poly-bushings and thrust washer polybushings. Our mechanic did not enjoy these last two bushing replacements as it's a notoriously unpleasant job (and, as a result, one which is ignored in a lot of 105 suspension refreshes) but has a really positive impact on the handling and eliminates much of the rear end waywardness that can develop when the rubber bushings age.
We also fitted 4 new Alfaholics 15" GTA Veloce alloy wheels with new 185/60/15 Pirelli P1 rubber. The wheels are the correct offsets as recommended by Alfaholics (ET29 front/ET35 rear) to avoid any rubbing of the tyre with the inner/outer rear fender.
Other than the above the car remains original/unabused and all modifications are easily reversed - All of the original parts have been retained (original steel 14" wheels (professionally refurbished) with very good chrome hubcaps, shod with period correct 165/14 Michelin tyres, front and rear factory springs and shock absorbers (renewed in 2023 as part of the restoration)
The interior Veglia clock functions and keep good time! - rarely do we come across a Giulia with a working one!
I have the original owners handbook and some beautiful (perfectly preserved) 1970s Giulia sales brochures that were kept by the first owner - In my opinion, a really lovely thing to have and very difficult to find today.
I also have a Certificato Di Origine certificate from Alfa Romeo showing the original specification.
The car has just had all fluids (engine, gearbox, differential, and a brake fluid flush) air filter and plug spark plugs changed in December 2025 with correct grade oils following the post-restoration run-in period.
There awere many other small miscelaneous items which were replaced or refurbished during the restoration which I have not listed here but, rest assured, the restoration of this Giulia has been carried out to a high standard with a view to ensuring the car can enjoyed for another 50+ years.
