Aperçu
1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Flat Floor Roadster - Car #424
An exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the earliest Jaguar E-Types ever produced. This 1961 Series 1 3.8 Flat Floor Roadster is documented by its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate as being car number 424 off the production line, placing it amongst the most historically significant and collectible examples of Jaguar's iconic sports car.
This matching-numbers example remains remarkably original and complete, retaining virtually all of its factory body panels and exhibiting an exceptionally solid structure with minimal corrosion. Even the original jack remains present in its factory bag in the boot, a testament to the car's remarkable completeness.
Most importantly, the car retains all of the highly sought-after features unique to the earliest Flat Floor E-Types, including welded bonnet louvres, the original alloy radiator, correct two-piece carburettor accelerator linkage, narrow bucket seats, round brake and clutch fluid reservoirs, the original steering wheel, and the correct silver dashboard trim.
The chrome work remains in very good condition, while the dashboard, instruments and trim have survived exceptionally well. Aside from a historic partial repaint in red, the car remains substantially original throughout.
Although requiring complete restoration, the rarity of finding such an early Flat Floor E-Type with matching numbers, confirmed provenance, outstanding originality and an almost corrosion-free structure cannot be overstated. It presents a unique opportunity to restore one of the earliest production E-Types to concours standards or preserve it as an important piece of Jaguar history.
