Overview
1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé – Matching Numbers, Manual – Dark Burgundy (Aubergine) / Tan
Offered for sale is this beautiful 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé, finished in Dark Burgundy (Aubergine) with a contrasting tan hood, and a superb tan Connolly leather interior with matching carpets. A wonderfully elegant and highly desirable specification.
This is a matching-numbers example, equipped with the sought-after manual gearbox, and accompanied by its Jaguar Heritage Certificate. The car is an original French-delivered XK150, supplied new via Jaguar Delcroix - the main Paris Jaguar Dealership at the time, making it a rare and appealing European-market example.
The car was meticulously and comprehensively restored both cosmetically and mechanically around 2005. Since completion, it has been carefully used and maintained by a single enthusiast owner, ensuring it has remained in excellent mechanical order rather than becoming a static showpiece.
Over the past 10 years, the XK150 has participated in numerous prestigious events and European tours, including multiple entries in the Tour Auto, where it has proven itself to be exceptionally reliable, consistently finishing the event and achieving an average overall position around 25th place.
Maintenance has been carried out regardless of cost by Francis Trichet of Poitiers, widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading classic Jaguar specialists. The car benefits from a number of sympathetic and well-judged upgrades designed to enhance reliability, comfort and performance for regular long-distance touring, including:
Front and rear disc brake upgrades
Full stainless-steel exhaust system
Cooling upgrades
Full suspension refresh
Fuel tank replaced
Recent works include:
New chrome wire wheels
Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres
The traditional dynamo has been replaced by a more reliable modern alternator
An additional electric fan has been decreetly added to aid cooling for summer touring
All new suspension bushings
New wheel bearings
New rear leaf springs and shock absorbers
A full service
The car has just passed its annual Contrôle Technique (January 2026) with no advisories, and is ready to be driven and enjoyed immediately by its next custodian. It has also been subject to a recent Expertise Report (March 2025) in which the XK150 was thoroughly inspected by a third party professional company and subsequently valued at €95,000.
The XK150 remains in excellent overall condition, displaying only the light and charming patina that comes from careful use rather than over-restoration.
This car is reluctantly offered for sale following the purchase of a Series 1 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, with insufficient storage for both vehicles.
Finding an original European-delivered XK150 of this quality, provenance, reliability and usability is increasingly difficult, particularly at what represents a very competitive price in today’s market.
