Overview
1953 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupé – Chassis 677001
We are delighted to offer this exceptionally significant 1953 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupé, chassis 677001 – the very first left-hand-drive XK120 DHC produced.
Finished in elegant British Racing Green with a beautifully appointed green leather interior, walnut dashboard and black hood, this is a particularly handsome example of one of Jaguar’s most celebrated post-war sports cars.
Importantly, the car retains its matching-numbers 3.4-litre XK straight-six engine and benefits from a recent comprehensive mechanical rebuild carried out by renowned French classic Jaguar specialist Francis Trichet. The result is an XK120 that not only presents beautifully but drives superbly, with excellent performance and the wonderfully characterful driving experience for which these early Jaguars are renowned.
Accompanied by an extensive history file documenting its fascinating life and provenance, chassis 677001 represents far more than simply an excellent XK120. Its unique position as the first LHD Drophead Coupé produced, combined with its matching-numbers status and recent mechanical restoration, makes this a rare opportunity to acquire a genuinely important piece of Jaguar history.
