Overview
Alpine White | Champagne Leather | 5-Speed Manual | Limited-Slip Differential | Exceptional Low-Mileage Example
We are delighted to offer this exceptionally well-preserved 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo, finished in Alpine White over Champagne leather and showing just approximately 25,600 miles (41,000 KMs) from new.
Originally supplied by Bill Cook Porsche in Michigan, USA, this 944 Turbo has enjoyed remarkably limited use throughout its life. It was sold to its previous owner via Bring a Trailer in 2018 with just under 21,000 miles and has covered only approximately 4,000 additional miles since. It remains in essentially the same beautifully preserved condition today.
The car is powered by Porsche's turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 220 hp when new, coupled to a five-speed manual transaxle. Importantly, this example was specified with the desirable limited-slip differential.
Specification:
The original sales invoice confirms a particularly attractive specification, including:
Alpine White (L90E) exterior
Champagne leather front and rear seats (very rare 'full leather' option)
5-speed manual transmission
Limited-slip differential
16-inch forged Fuchs alloy wheels with Grand Prix White centres
Electric sliding sunroof
Four-spoke leather sports steering wheel
Cruise control
Protective side mouldings
The Grand Prix White Fuchs are a particularly striking feature against the Alpine White bodywork and are specifically noted on the car's original sales invoice.
The interior remains remarkably well preserved for its age. The unusual Champagne leather (full front and rear seats) upholstery presents beautifully, displaying only light age-related creasing to the driver's seat, while the damage/crack-free dashboard, carpets, trim and controls reflect the car's exceptionally low mileage.
Period additions include an Alpine AM/FM cassette stereo with equaliser and upgraded speakers, an alarm system and the rear Porsche reflector panel. These modifications were carried out early in the car's life and form part of its history.
History & Documentation:
This is a particularly well-documented example - the history file includes the original Bill Cook Porsche sales invoice, stamped Porsche service booklet, service records dating from it's very early life in USA and an accident-free Carfax report documenting its American history as well as a clean French histovec report confirming it's very low mileage and clean history since being fully imported to France.
The car spent periods of its life in Michigan and California, including ownership in Palm Desert during the 2000s.
When offered for sale in the USA in 2018, the bodywork was checked with a paint meter and was reported to retain its original Alpine White paint apart from the bonnet. No accident history was recorded. It remains in exactly the same almost flawless condition today.
Since arriving in Europe, the car has been registered in France and is supplied with a French Carte Grise Collection and FFVE certification.
Mechanical Preparation:
Despite its exceptionally low mileage, this 944 Turbo has been maintained with particular attention to the important age-related servicing required by the model.
Prior to its 2018 sale, approximately $3,600 was spent with Porsche specialist Steinel's Autowerks, including:
Camshaft timing belt
Balance shaft belt
Belt tensioners
Water pump
Front brake pads
Clutch master cylinder
Replacement fluids
New Continental tyres
Importantly, the timing and balance shaft belts were replaced again in approximately 2023, only around 2,000 km ago, ensuring that this critical maintenance has not simply been left on the basis of the car's low mileage.
More recent work has also included:
New fuel pump
Air-conditioning service
New batery
Battery isolation switch
Full fluids service
Comprehensive inspection by Retro Classic Europe in preparation for sale
The air conditioning is operational and the electrical equipment and accessories function correctly.
The 944 Turbo – internally designated 951 – represented a significant step forward for Porsche's transaxle range when introduced for the 1986 model year. Combining excellent chassis balance with turbocharged performance, distinctive aerodynamic bodywork and genuine long-distance usability, it has become one of the most sought-after versions of the 944.
Finding an early Turbo is not difficult. Finding one with approximately 25,000 miles, an exceptional original interior, desirable factory specification and extensive documented history is considerably harder.
The combination of Alpine White paintwork, matching Grand Prix White Fuchs, white leather interior, limited-slip differential and extremely low mileage makes this a particularly distinctive example.
